As I’ve mentioned before, this is my fourth year at Houston Community College. I switched from the health science degree after realizing that it wasn’t going to fulfill my creative drive. I would consider myself creative because of the way that I’ve always been drawn to arts and craft, music, and illustration. I don’t have a lot of drawing experience, but I always busy my hands with different kinds of crafts. From my experience in the program, designing is just another way that I let my hands create.

Outside of school, music and knitting are my top hobbies. I grew up playing violin for my school orchestra and ukulele as a “mini” guitar, and I’ve been casually playing acoustic guitar for over ten years. Since I bought an electric guitar, I’ve been attached to it since.

Knitting is widely praised for being a slow hobby, which is true for me. I enjoy the long-term process of crafting a wearable I can put on at any time. Even with all the mistakes and miscounting I do, I think it’s good to practice restarting my progress if it means the final product will be more fulfilling. Exercising a patient and optimistic mindset is imperative for me to create the things I do.
