My name is Caitlin Bernadas, and I am currently a student attending Houston Community College. My program of study is digital communications with a specialization in web publishing. Although this is my fourth year at HCC, this is my first year in the program.
After my first semester, I finished my certification in Adobe Photoshop and started delving into other design applications, like Figma and Adobe Illustrator, in tandem to design layouts and create assets to be used in my layouts. I enjoyed the entire process from the initial sketches to the final product. It was most enjoyable when I realized that I was already incorporating what I have learned from other classes into my projects.
Since my start in digital communications, I’ve created a basic website for a local bakery, partly inspired by my family’s bakery in the Philippines, with some basic Html and CSS. As I continue to learn more about web development, I think about how I can improve my previous on my previous projects.
Other designs I’ve made include a prototype for a mobile app called Homespun Archive aimed at connecting yarn brands and shops directly to fiber artists, as well as a booking site for a private tattoo artist’s studio.
